Access Requirements

If you have any access requirements or any additional needs that will require assistance, please inform us at the point of confirming your place. 

Any requests should be made at least one week before the event to ensure we are able to meet your requirements in full.

Step-Free/ Wheelchair accessibility

The BECTU Vision office is based at Festival Business Centre, 150 Brand Street, Glasgow, G51 1DH. The main entrance to the building is level and all floors of the building are accessible by lift. For more information on the amenities on site, read our visual accessibility guide here.

We also ensure that any events which take place at external venues are fully accessible with step-free access.

Hearing Loop

A hearing loop is a special type of sound system for use by people with hearing aids. It can also be known as an audio induction loop or induction loop. Portable hearing loops can be provided for use during our courses.

Captions

Live captions convert audio dialogue and sounds into text that appears on a video in real time. We can arrange for captioning services to be available during our events on request.

British Sign Language (BSL Interpretation)

BSL British Sign Language (BSL) is the preferred language of Deaf people in the UK – BSL Interpreters facilitate communication between Deaf and hearing individuals. We can arrange for BSL Interpreters to provide support on request.

Handouts in advance

Our courses are typically delivered using a mix of practical elements as well as visual elements such as presentations, videos, and other digital resources. We can provide digital and physical copies of our course materials in advance. 

Colour Overlays

Colour overlays are transparent tinted sheets used to reduce visual stress, glare, and text distortion. We can provide overlays in various different colours, suited to individual needs. 

Assistance from Staff

Our team will always be available on the day of our events to provide guidance and assistance as well as answer any questions. 

Companion/ Carer

Attendees who require any additional assistance are welcome to bring a companion or carer to support during the event.

Quiet Space

A designated quiet area will be available for anyone who may need a calm, low-stimulation environment to rest, recharge or take a break from the event.
