Early Entrant Pathways 2026
Early Entrant Pathways is a partnership programme delivered by NFTS Scotland with BECTU Vision.
This series of short training courses has been designed to provide department specific next step training courses for those in the early stages of their careers, particularly those who have undertaken initial training through Hit the Ground Running and Get Set Go.
Each course will provide a deep dive into the function of each department on a production, an overview of the day-to-day running of the department, the roles and responsibilities of the entry level positions in the department and how it works with other departments. Participants will also receive key advice for how to survive and thrive in the industry.
Led by an experienced industry practitioner, the training course participants will develop and build their skills, resilience and employability.
The training courses are free of charge and a contribution towards travel and childcare costs is also available where applicable.
These courses will be delivered in person in Glasgow. Accessibility support is available.

- Thur 6 Aug & Fri 7 Aug 2026 – Induction & Freelance Working Workshop (for all selected participants)
- Thur 13 Aug & Fri 14 Aug 2026 – Working in the Production Department
- Thur 20 Aug & Fri 21 Aug 2026 – Working in the Post-Production Department
- Mon 24 Aug & Tue 25 Aug 2026 – Working in the Make-Up Department
- Wed 2 Sep & Thu 3 Sep 2026 – Working in the Assistant Director’s Department
- Mon 7 Sep & Tue 8 Sep 2026 – Working in the Art Department
- Mon 14 Sep & Tue 15 Sep 2026 – Working in the Costume Department
- Wed 23 Sep & Thu 24 Sep 2026 – Working in the Locations Department
