If you’re based in Scotland, at the early stages of your career and seeking to secure your first role, or perhaps you’ve already gained a few credits and are looking to refine your professional skills and fill any knowledge gaps – this training course is for you.
This 2-day course is coming to Edinburgh and Glasgow in early 2026 and we’re inviting applications from all over Scotland. The course is free of charge and travel, accommodation and childcare costs can be covered.
You’ll gain a clear understanding of the responsibilities within Production, Assistant Director, and Locations departments, and learn how to excel in these roles. The course offers practical training on reading production paperwork, understanding industry terminology, and navigating the freelance landscape. With expert guidance on crafting a professional CV and advice on job searching, you’ll leave equipped with the skills, knowledge, and industry contacts to support your next career steps.
Hit the Ground Running is free to attend, with a relaxed, interactive format that ensures learning is both engaging and enjoyable and you can expect content that includes:
> The structure of film and television crews
> Set etiquette with general hints and tips
> Understanding industry production paperwork
> Hands-on walkie talkie workshop
> Effective CV writing for film and television
> Typical pay, conditions and common work patterns
> Freelance working considerations and how to find work
> Guest speakers share their tips on working in Production, Locations and Assistant Director Departments
Applications are strongly encouraged from people who are traditionally under represented in the industry or may have faced barriers to entry. No academic education or qualifications are necessary.
