Production Skills Training
Dates: Weekly sessions on Tuesdays: 25 August – 6 October 2026 | 1000 – 1200

The Production Skills training series is designed to support experienced Production Secretaries and Assistant Production Co-ordinators who are preparing to step into the Production Co-ordinator role in the near future, and support current Production Co-ordinators in honing their professional practice.
These sessions will take place online, weekly on Tuesday mornings (1000-1200), over the course of 7 weeks. Practitioners will be encouraged to connect from their productions, if working.
Programme Content:
The programme covers:
Module 1: Insurance
Module 2: Arranging Tech Recces, Production Meetings and Read-Throughs
Module 3: Contracting Cast
Module 4: Working With Children
Module 5: Clearances
Module 6: The Script & Amendments
Module 7: Progress Reports & Script Timings
All attendees will be posted a handbook to use alongside the online modules with detailed information and advice to keep with you on subsequent productions.
There will also be an in-person networking event in Glasgow, to enable participants to strengthen connections, following the completion of the training.

What you’ll learn
The modules will help production practitioners be more efficient in their current job, better prepared to step up and lay the groundwork for the next generation of Production Coordinators & Managers by preparing them to get the most out of the roles they currently hold.
Who is this course for?
This training is for freelance film & TV practitioners who have experience working in Production Secretary and Assistant Production Co-ordinator roles, who are looking to step up to co-ordinate in the future; as well as Co-ordinators who are interested in developing their understanding of particular areas of production. This training will also be beneficial to those who are transferring their production skillset from unscripted to scripted productions.
Tutors:
The sessions will be delivered by Imogen Gay, Production Manager. Credits include Peaky Blinders, Top Boy, Press, Guerrilla. Imogen has worked in High End TV Drama and film for Netflix, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky Atlantic.
Eligibility:
The programme is specifically for established film and television practitioners based in Scotland. Please only apply if you meet this criteria. BECTU opportunities for those in other areas of the UK can be found here: England, Wales.
> Applicants should be based and working freelance in film and television in Scotland.
> Students are not eligible for this training.
Selection:
> As this is a workshop style course, there are a limited number of spaces available to allow participants the opportunity to interact and ask questions.
> Places are provided free of charge but are worth a considerable amount. Please only apply if you are committed to becoming a Production Coordinator and are able to attend all the sessions. Priority allocation will be given to those with evidence of commitment to the role.
