Hit the Ground Running 2024

We Hit the Ground Running in May with our intensive, 2-day training course for new entrants which focuses on entry level roles in the Production, Assistant Director and Locations Departments on scripted productions.

Designed for those at the start of their career who have been trying to secure their first job or have a couple of credits and were looking to improve their professional practice, the course covers what’s involved runner roles and how to do them well. There’s practical training on how to read production paperwork and understanding industry lingo. A guide to freelance working, CV advice and input from a range of industry professionals the course equipped participants with the knowledge and tools and contacts to help with their next steps.

Courses took place in Glasgow and Edinburgh with attendees from across Scotland. Big thanks to our industry practitioners who delivered workshops and contributed their insights in our Q&A sections; Rosie Ellison and Dove Ashrowan from Film Edinburgh, Mark O’Connor, Stuart Cadenhead, Ashley Black and, our Hit the Ground Running alumni, Eilidh Mackinnon, Olivia Gifford, Stewart Forrest and Lyndsay Tannahill.
