We recently held a one-day course for costume crew to sharpen their alteration skills and build speed, confidence and accuracy when working under pressure. Speedy Alterations with Angela Robertson offers a rare opportunity to learn from one of Scotland’s most experienced professionals in the industry.
Led by seasoned costume supervisor Angela Robertson, the session was split into two practical sessions to make the day as action packed, engaging and insightful as possible.
With the morning session focusing on hand sewing and the afternoon session covering machine sewing skills, participants left with a whole range of practical skills, insights and advice to use on set including how to take and record measurements, fitting and pining garments and tips for pressing and ironing finished pieces.
With over 40 years of experience working in theatre, film, and TV, as a costume supervisor on a wide range of period and contemporary productions, Angela’s goal is to pass on practical skills that can be immediately applied on set, ensuring garments not only look right on screen but also fit perfectly in real-time scenarios.
